JULIAN MALINS Q.C.NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
After studying Economics, Tessa became one of the first female traders on the London International Futures and Options Exchange (Liffe) floor in London when it opened in 1982. In 1986 she was employed by leading options specialist CRT and became a market maker on the Liffe floor & the London Stock Exchange. Tessa was given responsibility for her company's joint venture with a French Bank which included managing the Paris team in hiring, mentoring, and risk management. She also managed the risk and the trading team for the London office.
In 1993 she went to Hong Kong as Head of Derivatives for Banque Indosuez' trading arm, where she set up the floor trading division on the newly formed Hong Kong Foreign Exchange. Later she became an individual market maker and was one of a handful of people who provided liquidity in a highly volatile market. Being on a trading floor is a fascinating window into peoples' psychology and motivation and is a great lesson in working together with other individuals in a highly charged, intense and fast-paced environment. In Hong Kong this gave her a unique opportunity to work closely with the HK Chinese traders and develop long lasting friendships.
Tessa has recently moved back to the UK after 22 years in HK and is keen to maintain her East West ties and feels her qualities and experience will be very relevant in her role as a coach at Mandarin Consulting.
