Mandarin Consulting, a cross-cultural career coaching company for ambitious Chinese students, exclusively interviewed a leading British politician and former asset manager about future opportunities for Chinese graduates in the UK.
Mandarin Consulting’s CEO, Carrie Waley, had privileged access to the offices of the Houses of Parliament to speak to the Chairman of the British Parliamentary Group on China, MP Richard Graham. Richard Graham spent many years living and working in Hong Kong and China and speaks 8 languages, including Mandarin and Cantonese. Prior to entering politics, Richard Graham had three very successful and diverse careers in aviation, finance and as a diplomat.
Speaking from his office in Westminster, Richard Graham gave unique insights into the growing relationship between Britain and China and highlighted the opportunities this brings for aspiring, bilingual Chinese students wishing to pursue a career in the UK. He told Carrie Waley, ‘in terms of UK and China relationships, what it (Brexit) may do, and I think it is already beginning to, unlock more opportunities for discussions about how we work more closely together…The world is changing relatively quickly, China’s role in the world is increasing all the time. The world has to react to this’.
Richard Graham also explained how he had achieved success across very differing industries and described the key skills required to move ahead in global organisations. He had advice on utilising transferable expertise and how to standout in the job recruitment process.
